Snow was really wet today even though we were at P8 quite early. Skating was tough slogging but I should really not complain. It's April 13 after all.
The 5 of us got to Keogan and found an empty cabin. We started a fire in the wood stove to warm up the cabin and food. We then sat around a picnic table and started chatting. I like this part of the trip a lot. We talked about everything from flowers, cooking, sailing, to backpacking and canoe trips. Spring has come and everybody has something else in mind. So farewell snow -- you've been very kind.

Spring Skiing -- Take Two
Six of us started at P10 to have some fun spring skiing time. We were not disappointed. Fortune parkway was recently groomed and very skiable. It was re-frozen last night and my poles kept hitting the ice underneath the thin layer of snow. Glide, however, was excellent. Tina reported good grip with her blue wax and Sara was enjoying the skiing too. We got to Huron lookout and found the parkway further up was not groomed, obviously due to lack of snow. Yang and I, nonetheless, ventured out to Champlain lookout to have a look. The view is as usual excellent there. Next time we see it, we will be on our bikes. Snow is certainly disappearing fast.
We had a break at Huron cabin and then headed back to P10. Snow was getting soft under the sun, making skating even more enjoyable. Yuefei, Yang and I skated up and down Fortune parkway to get the most out of our trip.
I feel content with what we had this season but here is hoping for another trip next week.
